Improving the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) outcomes of young people, particularly in decision-making about their lives. The focus is on creating a generation of youth leaders to have a collective voice and become architects of positive change in their communities.

Overview

The Siyakwazi Youth Network is South Africa’s first ever SRHR Network that brings the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues of Youth to the fore with sustainable support and tangible interventions.

Our Partner

The Siyakwazi Youth Network is an initiative of Partners in Sexual Health (PSH) in partnership with the National Department of Social Development (DSD).

Producing a generation of Youth Advocates and Leaders in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

Siyakwazi Mission Statement

Building young people’s capacities to engage effectively in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and have a credible voice at local, national, regional and global level.

Siyakwazi Objectives
  • Using an all-inclusive approach that does not discriminate against one on the basis of gender diversity or social marginalisation, Siyakwazi Youth Network aims:

 

  • To improve the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) outcomes of young people.

 

  • To develop and capacitate a group of young leaders within the field of SRHR from all 9 provinces in South Africa, who are able to critically analyse and interrogate policies and engage on SRHR advocacy matters at policy level in their respective provinces.

 

  • To create a platform for dialogue by young people in SRHR in order to increase their understanding of SRHR issues and have a collective voice.

 

  • To ensure representation by young people at all key processes in order to influence policy direction and provide leadership on key SRHR issues.

 

  • To create and sustain a mentorship and coaching for the participants during training and in the execution of provincial specific advocacy plans and initiatives.

 

  • To engage in the effective implementation of SRHR youth policies and strategies.
